Tuesday night, I experienced my first house concert at the Soul Adults Summer Lovin' Event. I had no idea what to expect as I walked into the event.
After a Juneteenth event to remember I knew that this event would be just as fun and filling spiritually and physically, as our Host Amber never fails to bring her A game in the kitchen. This time after dinner we had featured guests Roberta Lea and her husband Nick Walters, joint forces powered by the light of Christ. I have never met a husband and wife duo quite like these two. I may be drawn to them because they are both Leos like me, but I know it is deeper than that.
I had the opportunity to speak with Roberta and Nick during dinner and they have genuine spirits that make them feel like family at heart from the start. So as we began the concert mostly everyone felt comfortable as Roberta led us into a story of past to present. She began to sing and instantly captured everyone in the room. It is as if she opened her book for us with a song titled Hunger Pain. From the need to leave a special someone alone because they are no good to the High and Low, you will be alright in the end. I especially fell in love with her song Samson and Delilah. She took a classic bible story from Judges and gave it life in a way I had never felt before. Roberta continued to revive scripture as she sang a song titles Throwing Stones inspired John 8, a woman caught in adultery is saved by Jesus Christ. I also distinctly remember her song Make it Happen and Moonlight. My expectations were exceeded by the house concert but the best part was yet to come.
Not only did we enjoy an intimate concert with Roberta, Nick joined her to facilitate a conversation on relationships. Their story is one that is unique and pure in love and intentions. An example that shows that keeping ones eyes focused on God will attract the right one who can help you build the kingdom as God has intended. We asked the couple questions which they answered honestly and from a faith driven perspective. The conversation got real real and when I looked at the clock it was pushing 11pm. You know the conversation good when people still there after talking more than an hour. It was a much needed fill up spiritually. I look forward to seeing Roberta and Nick again for another Soul Adults event. They need to do a Youtube series or something with all that wisdom they sitting on!
So once again Amber made it happen with another successful Soul Adults event. As I watch her continue to step out on faith I see God continue to increase her territory. Soul Adults is a blessing to our generation, I pray that as you read this that you get a look inside of a world that is ready to accept you and expand your heart with loving people and fellowship unlike anything you have experienced.
